On May 25th, I had the honor of capturing a truly remarkable celebration. This date marks a special occasion for the Grimm-Jares family, with Anne and Joe Edd Grimm marrying on May 25, 1957, Suzanne and Anthony Jares on May 25, 1991, and Jennifer and Garrett Jares on May 25, 2024. As a photographer, witnessing the continuation of this beautiful tradition was beyond special.
Anne and Joe Edd Grimm began this legacy of love in 1957. Their marriage set the tone for the family’s values and traditions. The classic car they rode off in after their ceremony became a family heirloom, cherished and preserved for future generations. Thirty-four years later, Suzanne, daughter of Anne and Joe Edd, married Anthony Jares. Embracing her parents’ tradition, Suzanne and Anthony rode off in the same classic car after their wedding ceremony. Fast forward to 2024, Jennifer and Garrett drove off in that same car on their wedding day.
The celebration didn’t end with the car ride. The reception was a joyous occasion, deeply rooted in traditions. We did the Grand March which brought everyone together, symbolizing unity and community. Another special moment was the game of dominos among Garrett, his dad, grandpa, and new wife, Jennifer! The reception also had a unique vendor, The Original Butt Sketch, an entertaining addition that was a huge hit with the guests. Everyone had a great time getting their “butts” sketched, adding a playful and memorable touch that their guest were able to take home with them!
As I photographed Jennifer and Garrett’s wedding, I couldn’t help but reflect on the deep sense of connection and love that permeated the day. The classic car, the Czech traditions, and playing dominos were more than just details; they were symbols of a family’s enduring love and commitment.
Capturing these moments was an honor, and it reminded me of the power of tradition and the beauty of love that spans generations.
